Aer Lingus will add a fifth weekly Indianapolis–Dublin nonstop flight for the 2026 summer season

Expanded transatlantic schedule announced for Indianapolis International Airport
Aer Lingus plans to increase service between Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and Dublin Airport (DUB) by adding one additional nonstop roundtrip each week during the 2026 summer travel season. The added frequency is scheduled to operate on Thursdays, beginning April 16, 2026, and continuing through the summer period.
The Indianapolis–Dublin route began in May 2025 with four weekly nonstop flights. With the added Thursday operation, the summer schedule is set to rise to five weekly nonstops. After the summer season, the airline is expected to continue operating the route four times per week on a year-round basis, with a brief seasonal pause planned between January and February.
Aircraft, onboard configuration, and passenger experience
The route is scheduled to be operated with the Airbus A321XLR. Airport officials have said the aircraft configuration includes dual-class seating, with 16 business-class seats. Tickets for the 2026 summer travel season are already on sale.
One operational feature that can affect return-trip timing is U.S. border processing in Ireland. Dublin Airport offers U.S. preclearance for U.S.-bound passengers, allowing travelers to complete U.S. immigration and customs procedures before departure. For returning passengers, this typically means arriving in Indianapolis as a domestic traveler after clearing formalities in Dublin.
Connectivity implications for Central Indiana travelers
Beyond nonstop access to Ireland, the Dublin hub provides onward connectivity to cities across Europe and the United Kingdom via connecting itineraries. Airport officials have highlighted that the network offers links to more than 20 destinations beyond Dublin, including major European capitals and commercial centers.
Economic and demand indicators cited by airport and airline leaders
Airport air-service analysis has cited an average of 545 travelers per day from the Indianapolis area to European destinations, a data point used to support the case for additional transatlantic capacity. The Indianapolis Airport Authority has estimated the route could generate an annual economic impact exceeding $50 million for Indiana.
Aer Lingus leadership has attributed the frequency increase to demand trends following the route’s launch, describing particularly strong demand originating in the United States. Airport leaders have characterized the earlier-than-anticipated move from four to five weekly flights as an indicator of sustained leisure and business interest in the service.
