Police were called to the 3700 block of West 97th Street around 3:35 a.m. after a report of shots fired. Investigators said the events leading to the gunfire started on I-465 and continued until the vehicles involved reached a neighborhood, where the incident escalated further.

SWAT search warrants executed after unsuccessful attempts to contact people inside

As the investigation unfolded, Carmel and Fishers SWAT teams executed search warrants on two adjacent homes tied to the case. Police said the teams moved in after several attempts to make contact with people believed to be inside the suspected residence did not succeed.

Authorities later located the suspect and took the woman into custody with assistance from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
