Official City Council and Committee Meetings

For Wednesday, February 11, 2026, the Indianapolis City-County Council has scheduled key committee sessions to address legislative priorities and local development. Residents are encouraged to participate in the following public meetings held at the City-County Building:

  • Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee: This committee will convene to discuss matters regarding local law enforcement, emergency services, and public safety policy.
  • Plat Committee: Meeting at 1:00 PM, the Plat Committee will review subdivision proposals and land use petitions. All proceedings are open to the public in the Public Assembly Room.

Additionally, the Department of Metropolitan Development has issued notices regarding Resolution 2026-R-007, authorizing funds for structural assessments at the former Indiana Women’s Prison. This initiative aims to evaluate the safety and future utility of the property's existing buildings and tunnels.

Major Construction and Traffic Advisories

Significant infrastructure projects continue to impact traffic flow throughout Marion County this week. Drivers should plan for delays in the following areas:

  • Clear Path 465: Construction on the northeast side remains active, with intermittent lane and ramp restrictions on I-465 and I-69 as crews work toward the summer completion of the reconfigured interchange.
  • IndyGo Blue Line: Major utility work and storm sewer construction continue along Washington Street. Westbound traffic on Southeastern Avenue is subject to detours, while portions of Washington Street near Belmont Avenue remain restricted to maintain local access.
  • Downtown Closures: Due to the expansion of the Indiana Convention Center and the Signia by Hilton hotel, Capitol Avenue remains closed to vehicular traffic. This restriction is expected to last through March 2026.

Public Transit Service Adjustments

IndyGo has implemented several service changes effective this week to improve on-time performance during the ongoing construction season. Riders should be aware of the following adjustments:

  • Route 26: Service frequency has increased to every 30 minutes, seven days a week.
  • Timing Adjustments: Minor schedule shifts have been applied to the Red Line, Purple Line, and several local routes (5, 6, 8, and 10) to accommodate construction detours.

Federal and Public Service Announcements

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has extended the public comment period regarding the proposed permanent closure of the Indianapolis Downtown Heliport. Residents now have until February 26, 2026, to submit feedback on the transition of this 5.36-acre site from aeronautical to non-aeronautical use. Comments can be submitted through the official Federal Register portal.
