Verdict follows March 2024 shooting at Landsharks in the Broad Ripple entertainment district

An Indianapolis man has been convicted in connection with a deadly mass shooting inside a Broad Ripple bar, a case stemming from gunfire that killed one person and injured five others during the early-morning hours of March 16, 2024.

The shooting occurred at Landsharks, a bar and nightclub at 808 Broad Ripple Ave., shortly after 1 a.m. Police reported that officers assigned to the Broad Ripple area were nearby and responded after hearing shots fired inside the business. Investigators said five adult male victims with gunshot injuries were located inside the bar and transported to hospitals, while a sixth victim arrived at a hospital by private vehicle.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the person who died as Timothy Brown Jr., 36. Brown was pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. The other five victims survived.

What investigators said happened inside the bar

Court records tied to the case described a dispute that began between two women inside the bar shortly before shots were fired. Investigators said surveillance video from inside the business captured a man entering with a woman and later firing multiple rounds while moving toward the exit.

Police arrested Nicholas Fulk, 25, within hours of the shooting. Investigators said they used a combination of public and private cameras, automatic license plate readers and other investigative methods to locate Fulk after the gunfire. He was taken into custody on Indianapolis’ south side.

Prosecutors filed multiple charges in the days following the shooting, including murder, several counts related to injuries suffered by the surviving victims, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon.

Broader impact on the Broad Ripple nightlife corridor

The case unfolded against continued scrutiny of late-night safety in Broad Ripple, a neighborhood where crowds gather around bars and restaurants. In public remarks after the shooting, police leadership emphasized that while law enforcement can deploy officers and work an area safety plan, individual venues control entry and security procedures inside their establishments.

After the incident, state alcohol regulators took action affecting Landsharks’ ability to operate. The business later ceased operations, leaving the space vacant and becoming part of an ongoing conversation about how entertainment districts balance nightlife, policing and venue-level security.

  • Location: Landsharks, 808 Broad Ripple Ave.
  • Date/time: March 16, 2024, shortly after 1 a.m.
  • Victims: 6 shot; 1 killed (Timothy Brown Jr., 36); 5 survived

The conviction resolves the central question of criminal responsibility for the shooting, while leaving broader public-safety debates over late-night venues and firearm access in nightlife settings largely unsettled.
