Significant IndyGo Service Adjustments Effective Today

Commuters utilizing public transit in Indianapolis should be aware of a major service overhaul taking effect today, Sunday, February 8, 2026. IndyGo has implemented several schedule adjustments to improve on-time performance and accommodate ongoing infrastructure projects. The most notable change is for Route 26, which serves the corridor between Keystone at the Crossing and the Julia M. Carson Transit Center. This route now operates with 30-minute frequency seven days a week, a significant improvement from its previous 75-minute Sunday schedule.

Additionally, riders on the Red Line (90) and Purple Line (92) will encounter detours due to the closure of 18th Street for utility work. This closure has resulted in the temporary shuttering of the IU Health Station. Passengers should also note minor timing adjustments on Routes 5, 6, 8, and 10. Route 8 specifically is operating on a new daily schedule to account for construction activities related to the future Blue Line bus rapid transit corridor.

Interstate Construction and Ramp Restrictions

On the interstates, the Clear Path 465 project on the northeast side of the city remains approximately 80% complete, but several key restrictions continue to affect Sunday travel. Drivers cannot access the northbound I-465 ramp from 56th Street or the eastbound I-465 ramp from Allisonville Road, as both remain closed for long-term reconfiguration. The ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to westbound I-465 also remains unavailable. While mainline I-465 construction is nearing its spring completion goal, lane shifts and reduced speeds are still in effect throughout the I-69 interchange zone.

Further north, the Level Up 31 project continues to impact the interchange of US 31 and I-465. The southbound US 31 ramp to 106th Street is closed through the spring. Drivers in this area and along the I-465 northern arc should adhere to the posted 45 MPH speed limits, which are strictly enforced via automated work zone safety systems.

Local Street Closures and Detours

Major surface street restrictions are centered on the city’s west side. Washington Street is currently closed to through traffic between Belmont Avenue and Harding Street for the installation of storm sewer trunk lines as part of the Blue Line project. Westbound motorists are being detoured south on Harding Street to I-70 West, then north on Holt Road to rejoin Washington Street. A single eastbound lane remains open for local access only.

On the far northeast side, the westbound lane of 136th Street between Cyntheanne Road and Prairie Baptist Road remains closed. This restriction, initially scheduled for earlier completion, has been extended through late spring 2026 due to recent weather-related delays in pavement widening. Commuters are advised to utilize Southeastern Parkway as an alternate route.
