Dallas halts a month-long slide with balanced scoring in Indianapolis

The Dallas Mavericks ended a 10-game losing streak Sunday, Feb. 22, with a 134-130 road win over the Indiana Pacers at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The victory was Dallas’ first since Jan. 22 and came in a game defined by efficient scoring, pace and late-game execution rather than sustained defense.

Khris Middleton led the Mavericks with 25 points while adding seven rebounds and seven assists. P.J. Washington scored 23 points and collected nine rebounds. Six Dallas players finished in double figures, and reserve big man Marvin Bagley III contributed a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.

A high-scoring game built on shot-making and runs

Dallas led 36-33 after the first quarter and carried a 71-66 advantage into halftime. A third-quarter surge helped the Mavericks build their largest cushion; a 12-3 run pushed the margin to 94-84. Indiana narrowed the gap in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to three at 117-114, but did not reclaim the lead.

The final minutes turned into a trade of baskets and free throws, with Dallas doing enough to keep the Pacers at arm’s length. The Mavericks’ ability to finish possessions and avoid empty trips was central to preserving the lead in a one-possession game during the closing stretch.

Pacers get Siakam back, but injuries and absences remain a theme

Indiana received a strong performance from Pascal Siakam, who returned after missing three games and scored 30 points with eight rebounds. Andrew Nembhard added 22 points and 11 assists, and Jarace Walker posted 18 points, nine rebounds and six assists. Kobe Brown recorded a career-high 15 points.

The Pacers’ rotation continued to be shaped by availability. Indiana was without Aaron Nesmith, Ivica Zubac and T.J. McConnell due to injuries. Before tipoff, coach Rick Carlisle said Tyrese Haliburton is dealing with shingles and is expected to be away from the team for several weeks; Haliburton has not played this season while rehabilitating from the torn Achilles he suffered in Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals.

What the result means next

  • Dallas improved to 20-36, snapping its longest skid since the late 1990s.
  • Indiana fell to 15-43 and dropped to 0-3 since the All-Star break.
  • Both teams face quick turnarounds: the Mavericks visit Brooklyn on Tuesday, and the Pacers host Philadelphia the same night.

In a game where both teams found consistent offense, the outcome hinged on Dallas building early leads, absorbing Indiana’s late push, and closing with enough timely scoring to prevent a comeback.
