Public Service Announcement: Residential Trash Collection Transition

The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) issues a reminder to all residents regarding the ongoing transition of waste management services. Residents are advised of the following:

  • Service requests and missed collection reports should now be directed to LRS via the updated city service portal.
  • The standard collection schedule remains in effect unless otherwise notified by the Department of Public Works.
  • Residents are encouraged to download the updated 2026 collection calendar to ensure compliance with local disposal ordinances.

Health Advisory: Winter Contingency Plan in Effect

The Marion County Public Health Department and the Office of Public Health and Safety remind the community that the 2025-2026 Winter Contingency Plan remains active through March 31, 2026. This plan is a coordinated effort to provide emergency shelter and critical resources to vulnerable populations during the winter season. In light of the recent severe cold and significant snowfall recorded in late January, the city continues to prioritize the following safety measures:

  • Activation of overflow shelter capacity during sub-freezing temperatures.
  • Continued monitoring of road conditions through the Indy Snow Force Viewer to assist emergency medical transport.
  • Coordination with local outreach teams to prevent cold-related injuries among the unsheltered.
