One person killed and another critically injured in near north side Indianapolis shooting investigation

What happened

Indianapolis police are investigating a shooting on the city’s near north side that left one person dead and another person hospitalized in critical condition.

Officers were called around 7 p.m. on a Wednesday night to the 3300 block of Graceland Avenue on a report of a person shot. When police arrived, they found an adult man inside a residence with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers also found an adult woman with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital and was listed in critical condition.

What investigators have said so far

Police reported that a firearm was recovered at the scene. Detectives indicated the incident may have involved a murder-suicide, but no final determination has been publicly confirmed. Investigators have not released details about what led up to the shooting, nor have they said whether any prior calls for service were connected to the address.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the deceased person’s identity after next-of-kin notification is completed.
