Transit and Infrastructure Updates

Ongoing infrastructure improvements continue to affect traffic flow and pedestrian access across the city:

  • Washington Street Closure: A significant portion of Washington Street remains closed between Southeastern and State avenues for ongoing construction. Commuters are advised to utilize detours via Southeastern and State avenues.
  • Blue Line Construction: IndyGo reminds pedestrians that full accessibility along the Blue Line corridor is still under transition. While crosswalks are maintained, some sidewalk sections near the White River Bridge and West Street remain restricted.
  • Route 8 Detours: Bus riders should note that the Route 8 detour remains in effect for the Washington Street closure between Belmont Avenue and Harding Street, utilizing North White River Parkway and Michigan Street.

Parks and Recreation Construction

Indy Parks is currently executing its 2026 construction season, with work active at several neighborhood sites. Residents may notice construction activity and temporary fencing at Canterbury Park and Robey Park as new playgrounds, shelters, and trail improvements begin. These projects are part of a historic $150 million investment initiative funded by the Circle City Forward program and the Lilly Endowment.

Health Advisory: Needle Exchange Program

The Indiana Department of Health has issued a reminder regarding upcoming changes to the needle exchange program. Effective next week, new legislation will require participants in Marion County to provide proof of residency to access services. Additionally, exchange sites must now operate at least 1,000 feet away from schools, daycare centers, and places of worship.
