City-County Council Meeting Schedule and Agendas

The Indianapolis City-County Council has released its schedule for the upcoming weeks. As of today, Friday, January 23, 2026, the official agenda for the next full council meeting is being finalized for public review. The next regular full council meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday, February 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Assembly Room of the City-County Building. Residents are encouraged to review the agenda, which is typically posted on the Friday preceding the meeting.

Additionally, the Information Technology Board is set to meet on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. This board will oversee discussions regarding major municipal IT contracts and city-wide technology standards. Most committee meetings for the start of February, including the Education and Parks and Recreation committees, will begin the following week.

Department of Public Works: Trash Collection Slide Schedule

The Department of Public Works (DPW) reminds residents that trash and recycling services are currently operating on a "slide schedule" due to the observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday earlier this week. For the remainder of this week, all collections have been delayed by one day.

  • Pickups normally scheduled for Friday, January 23, will be serviced on Saturday, January 24.
  • Normal collection schedules are expected to resume on Monday, January 26, 2026.

Residents are also reminded that Lakeshore Recycling Systems (LRS) has officially begun its tenure as the new trash service provider for specific service districts as of January 2, 2026. Households should ensure their carts are placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their adjusted pickup day.

Health and Social Service Advisories

The Marion County Public Health Department and state agencies have issued several updates regarding social services and community health programs for the new year. Effective January 2026, new state-mandated restrictions on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) have taken effect, which may impact eligibility for certain households. Furthermore, health officials are monitoring the legislative status of the city’s syringe exchange programs. Under current state filings, these programs require legislative extension to continue operating past July 2026; they currently remain active at sites like the Damien Center to curb the spread of hepatitis C and HIV.
