Third defendant sentenced in fatal East Indianapolis wrong-house drive-by that killed 25-year-old Addam Hart

Case closes with sentencing of final defendant
A Marion County judge has sentenced the third and final defendant in a deadly drive-by shooting that investigators say targeted the wrong home on Indianapolis’ east side, bringing the criminal case to a close nearly two years after the killing of 25-year-old Addam Hart.
The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. March 28, 2024, in the 2200 block of Gable Drive near East 21st Street and North Mitthoefer Road. Police said Hart was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition, where he later died. Detectives ruled the death a homicide.
What investigators say happened at the Gable Drive home
Court filings described extensive gunfire directed at the residence. Investigators documented more than 30 bullet strikes on the home and recovered 31 spent cartridge casings from the street and sidewalk area. The filings also stated a 5-year-old child was in bed nearby when Hart was shot, and that multiple rounds penetrated the child’s window.
Investigators later concluded the intended target was not inside the Gable Drive house at the time of the shooting. Police have said the residence was hit in error amid a broader dispute connected to someone who previously lived at that address.
How the investigation expanded beyond Indianapolis
Records in the case show the investigation also examined a separate drive-by incident reported the next day in Brownsburg, where a resident reported gunfire that damaged a vehicle. Witness interviews from that incident described a vehicle arriving with multiple teenagers, including individuals wearing ski masks.
Investigators used vehicle descriptions and subsequent interviews to connect the incidents, ultimately tying the suspect vehicle to the Gable Drive homicide investigation.
Arrests and evidence cited in court
Police arrested Tyler Gibson and Savannah Allen on May 2, 2024. In a subsequent search of a sport-utility vehicle tied to Gibson, investigators reported finding a firearm and ammunition consistent with what was used in the Gable Drive shooting.
In interviews summarized in court documents, Allen told investigators that Gibson and another male fired into the Gable Drive home. Investigators also reported finding a screenshot on Gibson’s phone referencing the Gable Drive shooting notification shortly after the homicide.
Sentencing details and remaining defendants
Allen, now 18, was sentenced to four years on an assisting-a-criminal conviction, with 1.5 years to be served on probation. With the newest sentencing, the court has now imposed penalties on all defendants charged in connection with the wrong-house drive-by that killed Hart.
