What happened

Three men were injured in separate shootings reported within a few hours overnight on Indianapolis’ west and near-northwest sides, as detectives worked multiple scenes and canvassed for video and witnesses. Police said all three incidents remained under investigation and that no arrests had been announced in connection with the shootings.

The shootings were reported between late evening and the early-morning hours, and each victim was taken to a hospital. Police described the men’s conditions as stable at the time of initial reports.

Where the shootings were reported

  • Bridgewood Drive area (near West 69th Street and Michigan Road): Officers were called around 12:30 a.m. to an apartment complex off Bridgewood Drive after a 911 report of heavy gunfire. Police indicated they believed this shooting may have been targeted and said they were checking the area for security-camera footage.

  • Near 21st Street and North Tibbs Avenue (near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway area): A separate shooting was reported on the near northwest side just before 3 a.m. Police responded and located a shooting victim who was taken for treatment.

  • West-side shooting involving a shootout report: Another man was shot around 11 p.m. in what officers described as an apparent exchange of gunfire. Police said a white Chevrolet Impala was seen leaving that area, and the victim was hospitalized in stable condition.

What investigators are trying to determine

Police have not publicly identified suspects in the three shootings or released a confirmed motive for each incident. In cases involving multiple scenes in a short time window, detectives typically work to determine whether the shootings are connected by shared participants, vehicles, or locations, or whether they are unrelated incidents occurring close together.

Police said the shootings remained under investigation and asked anyone with information to come forward.

What residents should know

Investigations in shootings of this type often depend on 911 call details, nearby surveillance video, and witness cooperation. Police encouraged people who live or work near the reported locations to review any doorbell or exterior-camera footage from the time window of the shootings and to share relevant information with detectives.

The victims’ names were not released in the initial information, and police did not announce arrests or confirm whether any of the victims knew the shooter or shooters.
