Morning Commute Overview for February 10, 2026

Indianapolis commuters are waking up to a mix of progress and persistence on the roads this Tuesday. While a major bridge replacement project is finishing ahead of schedule, ongoing construction for the city’s third bus rapid transit line continues to reshape traffic patterns on the west side. Drivers should remain alert for shifting lane configurations, particularly on the I-465 loop and along the Washington Street corridor.

Good News for North Side Drivers

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has announced that the Township Line Road bridge over I-465 is officially reopening today, Tuesday, February 10. The bridge, which has been closed for replacement since the summer of 2025, is returning to service significantly earlier than its original spring 2026 target. While the road is now open to through traffic, motorists should be aware that crews will return later this spring to apply permanent pavement markings and final asphalt layers. Additionally, nightly lane closures on I-465 beneath the bridge are scheduled for late February to complete work on the structure's underside.

Blue Line and West Side Disruptions

Major transit infrastructure work is the primary source of delays for those traveling toward downtown or the airport. Washington Street remains closed to westbound through traffic between Belmont Avenue and Harding Street. This closure, necessary for the installation of massive storm sewer trunk lines for the IndyGo Blue Line, is expected to persist until May 2026. Motorists heading west are being detoured south on Harding Street to I-70 West, exiting at Holt Road to return to Washington Street. One eastbound lane remains open to maintain access for local businesses and residents.

Clear Path 465 Progress

On the northeast side, the Clear Path 465 project is now 80% complete. However, the final 20% continues to impact the busy I-465 and I-69 interchange. Commuters should expect the following long-term restrictions to remain in place today:

  • The ramp from 56th Street to northbound I-465 remains closed.
  • The ramp from Allisonville Road to eastbound I-465 is closed, with traffic diverted to the 82nd Street interchange.
  • Automated speed enforcement is active in these zones; the speed limit is strictly 55 mph through the construction corridor.

Public Transit and IndyGo Updates

IndyGo riders should note that several service adjustments took effect this week. Route 8 is operating on a modified daily schedule and detour due to the Blue Line construction on Washington Street. Specifically, westbound stops between Belmont and Harding have been relocated to Michigan Street and other adjacent intersections. On a positive note for north-south travelers, Route 26 has increased its frequency, now running every 30 minutes, seven days a week.
