Two killed and nine injured in separate Indianapolis shootings during a warm-weather weekend, police say

Multiple incidents across the city left two people dead and nine others wounded
Indianapolis police investigated a series of shootings over a warm-weather weekend that left two people dead and nine others injured across separate incidents, reflecting a recurring pattern of violence that clusters around late-night hours and spans multiple neighborhoods.
Between early Saturday and late Sunday, at least 11 people were reported shot in the city. Police said two victims died from their injuries, while others arrived at hospitals and a fire station seeking treatment after being wounded in separate events.
Fatal shootings identified in far-east and near-east areas
One fatal shooting was reported late Saturday night at the intersection of North Mitthoeffer Road and Chris Drive. Officers responding before 10:30 p.m. found 25-year-old Derrick Williams II suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Several hours later, police responded around 5 a.m. Sunday to the 1200 block of Windsor Street, where 69-year-old Antonia Reiner had been shot. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died. Police later announced that a juvenile had been arrested in connection with her death; any formal charges would be determined through the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
Additional shootings produced hospital walk-ins and critical injuries
Beyond the two deaths, police reported a sequence of shootings that resulted in victims either transported by emergency medical crews or arriving on their own. Early Saturday morning, a person walked into Community East Hospital with a gunshot wound and was described as awake and talking. Later that morning, another person was reported shot in the 10200 block of Pineneedle Court.
On Sunday, police reported a walk-in patient at Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition during the early-morning hours. Later in the day, another wounded person arrived at an Indianapolis Fire Department station in the 3400 block of Moller Road. Additional shootings were reported Sunday afternoon and evening, including incidents on Dawn Drive, McKim Avenue and East 36th Street, with police describing at least one victim in critical condition.
What is known, what remains under investigation
Police have not publicly tied the separate shootings to a single suspect or motive and have treated them as distinct investigations. In several cases, publicly released information has focused on the time and location of the shootings and the victims’ medical status rather than detailed circumstances leading up to gunfire.
- At least 11 people were reported shot across the weekend, including two fatalities.
- Victims ranged from those treated on scene and transported to hospitals to walk-ins at hospitals and a fire station.
- An arrest was announced in connection with one of the two deaths; charging decisions were pending prosecutorial review.
Police asked anyone with information about any of the shootings to contact the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Homicide Office or provide tips through Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
Investigations into each incident were ongoing, with detectives working to identify suspects, confirm the sequence of events in each shooting and determine whether any of the cases are connected.
