The Indianapolis City-County Council will convene for its regular monthly session tonight, Monday, March 2, 2026. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Assembly Room of the City-County Building, located at 200 E. Washington Street. As the primary legislative body for the consolidated city and Marion County, the Council will review various ordinances, budget proposals, and city policy updates.
Residents are encouraged to attend in person or view the proceedings via the city’s official livestream services. Agendas for full council meetings are typically made available on the Friday preceding the session. Public comment is a vital part of these proceedings, particularly regarding community-led proposals and local zoning considerations that impact the quality of life across the county’s various districts.
Public Works Advisory: Blue Line Construction and Washington Street Closures
The Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) and IndyGo have issued active service announcements regarding significant transit construction for the Blue Line. Commuters should take note of the following disruptions active as of March 2:
- Washington Street (Belmont Avenue to Harding Street): This section remains closed to all through traffic to facilitate the installation of new storm sewer trunk lines. This closure is expected to remain in effect until approximately May 2026. Westbound motorists are advised to detour south on Harding Street to I-70 West, utilizing the Holt Road exit.
- Washington Street (Southeastern Avenue to State Avenue): Construction on storm sewers has resulted in the closure of eastbound lanes for a 90-day period. Eastbound traffic is currently being detoured via Southeastern Avenue and State Avenue. Westbound access is being maintained at this time.
Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout these projects. DPW reminds drivers to follow all posted detour signs and exercise caution when traveling through active construction zones.
