Morning Commute Overview

Commuters in Indianapolis should prepare for several significant ramp closures and transit adjustments this Tuesday, February 24, 2026. While major regional highways like I-65 and I-70 are currently flowing without unexpected incidents, long-term infrastructure projects—specifically Clear Path 465 and Blue Line construction—continue to dictate traffic patterns. With temperatures remaining low, drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for vehicle warm-ups and to remain alert for black ice in shaded areas or on overpasses.

Major Highway Construction and Ramp Closures

The Clear Path 465 project on the northeast side of the city has reached approximately 80% completion, yet several critical access points remain closed as crews work toward the expected spring 2026 mainline completion. Commuters should navigate the following closures:

  • I-465 Northbound: The entrance ramp from 56th Street and North Shadeland Avenue is completely closed. This closure is expected to remain in place until June 30, 2026.
  • Allisonville Road: The ramp from Allisonville Road to eastbound I-465 remains closed for long-term reconfiguration.
  • Binford Boulevard: The ramp from northbound Binford Boulevard to westbound I-465 is currently inaccessible due to bridge and interchange reconstruction.
  • I-465 Northwest: Bridge construction continues between Zionsville Road and Michigan Road. Motorists will encounter narrow 11-foot lanes and a reduced speed limit of 55 mph.

IndyGo Transit Service Alerts

Public transit riders are facing several route changes following the February service update. IndyGo has implemented these adjustments to accommodate ongoing roadwork and improve reliability. Notable alerts for today include:

  • Route 8 (Washington): This route is currently operating on a detour via White River Parkway to avoid Blue Line construction zones.
  • Red Line (Route 90): A significant detour remains in effect near Fountain Square. The Raymond Street platforms are closed; riders should use the temporary bus stops located along Raymond Street.
  • Route 3 (Michigan Street): A modified detour via White River Parkway is in effect to streamline travel through the west side.
  • Route 26: Riders on this route now benefit from increased frequency, with buses running every 30 minutes, seven days a week.

Commuters are advised to utilize real-time tracking apps for the latest updates on lane restrictions and bus arrivals as conditions can shift rapidly during the peak morning and evening hours.
