Federal sentences handed down after multi-county investigation

Ten defendants have been sentenced in federal court for their roles in a drug trafficking operation that moved fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine through Indianapolis and other communities across the Southern District of Indiana. The investigation described distribution activity spanning multiple counties, including areas such as Muncie and Terre Haute, and culminated in a series of coordinated searches in November 2023.

The conspiracy described in court filings and sentencing announcements was tied to activity between October 2022 and November 2023. Investigators said the organization distributed large quantities of narcotics across central and southern Indiana, with an Indianapolis-based network identified as a key hub.

Who was sentenced and what penalties were imposed

The defendants and sentences announced in the case are:

  • Joshua Kendall, 44, of Indianapolis: 33 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • Wesley Young, 49, of Hudson, New York: 23 years in prison and five years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • David Bork, 38, of Indianapolis: 14 years in prison and five years of supervised release (distribution involving 500 grams or more of a substance containing methamphetamine).
  • Alex Members, 47, of Indianapolis: 13 years in prison and five years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • Tia Wampler, 36, of Bloomington: 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • Brian Connelly, 57, of Romney: 10 years in prison and five years of supervised release (possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine).
  • Fynn Fox, 55, of Indianapolis: eight years and one month in prison and three years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • Terry Pounds, 48, of Muncie: 5.5 years in prison and five years of supervised release (possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of a substance containing cocaine).
  • Richard Moore, 46, of Marion: five years in prison and four years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).
  • Taneesha Robertson, 45, of Indianapolis: four years in prison and two years of supervised release (conspiracy to distribute controlled substances).

What investigators said was seized

On Nov. 8, 2023, law enforcement executed multiple search warrants at homes and vehicles described as being used to store narcotics and trafficking proceeds. Officials said seizures included approximately 25,000 fentanyl pills, methamphetamine, cocaine and cocaine base, and fentanyl mixed with xylazine, a veterinary tranquilizer. Authorities also reported the seizure and forfeiture of numerous firearms and related items, along with cash, digital scales, cutting agents, ammunition and multiple cell phones.

Officials characterized the case as a multi-agency effort involving federal and local partners, with sentences imposed in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis.

How the case was characterized in court

Investigators described Kendall as the leader of the Indianapolis-based distribution network and said he used threats to control people carrying out directives. Authorities attributed at least 108 kilograms of methamphetamine, four kilograms of fentanyl and six kilograms of cocaine to the trafficking organization described in the case.

The sentences reflect the federal court’s findings on each defendant’s charges and role in the conspiracy, and include supervised release terms that begin after incarceration.
